Hi! I'm Megan Oldak

I'm a 26 year old artist who graduated from Misericordia University with a master's in Occupational Therapy and a degree in Mass Communications and Design. A bit of an unusual combo, right? Let me tell you why it might not be as odd as you may think.

My Story

To keep it simple, Occupational Therapy (OT for short) is a branch of healthcare that utilizes creative, research-supported treatment to help people get back to doing their daily tasks as independently as possible. I chose this field because it will allow me to help people in a creative way. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted the chance to be creative, regardless of what the job actually was.

My dream to become an animator started when I was young, specifically when I watched the bonus Behind the Scenes footage of Finding Nemo on DVD. I remember I was fascinated with how drawings of some cartoon fish could turn into a full-length motion picture that I loved. From then on, I knew I wanted to make my own animated films one day, even if little me hadn't learned what "animated" meant yet.

As I got older, I used my creative passion in other ways, such as photography, painting, writing, creating social media marketing campaigns, working on production sets for commercials and newscasts, and even in my OT treatments. But no matter what I did, I always found myself drawn (sorry, couldn't help myself) back to animation. It's my true passion to become an animator, and I know I will make it a reality one day.

So as a wise cartoon fish once said, I'm going to "keep on swimming" until I've made my dream come true. Want to join me on my journey?
